Krista Clement, CSW: Focused on healing from trauma and traumatic relationship dynamics.
Like you, Krista has experienced the joys and difficulties of life including marriage, culture shock, parenting, illness, school, loneliness, and trauma. She’s been there! And because she understands what it’s like to hurt, she creates an environment of safety, support, and authentic connection for her clients. Krista’s approach is warm and non-judgmental, but she will encourage you to explore possibilities in your life and relationships. She does not believe that a therapist’s role is to act as a lifeboat rescuer, but as a lighthouse; shining a light on different ways for her clients to develop and attain self-discovery and empowerment.
Trauma, PTSD, and trauma related issues are a special focus of Krista’s, and she enjoys working with children, adolescents, families, couples, immigrants, those in addiction recovery, and with those who have experienced attachment and betrayal trauma. Krista has worked in challenging inpatient and outpatient settings, working with a wide range of mental health concerns. Krista graduated with an undergraduate degree in English Literature/Psychology from Brigham Young University and later obtained a Master of Social Work (clinical focus) from the University of Utah. Because of her unique background in the Humanities, Krista’s therapeutic orientation is experiential/interdisciplinary and she enjoys using a tailored and unique approach for each client. Krista firmly believes there can be as many pathways to healing as individuals who undertake the healing journey.
Krista is EMDR trained and LGBTQ affirmative. She utilizes a wide array of therapeutic modalities including: EMDR, DBT, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts, ACT, Mindfulness, PACE, Gottman, and the therapeutic influence of the works of Carl Jung. She is a native of Salt Lake City, but has lived in many different places including Germany, East Coast, and Northwest. Ja, sie kann Deutsch!
