Chris enjoys learning about his clients and understanding what they are experiencing. He works hard to create a judgment-free space where people feel comfortable being vulnerable, transparent, and honest.
His primary approach is curiosity. He wants to understand what the struggle or challenge is, and how each person may best respond to making changes. This opens the door to various modalities depending on what each client needs.
Philosophy on Healing
Chris views healing and personal growth as daily opportunities. We are all imperfect beings, and in any relationship, we hurt one another. Deepening our understanding, empathy, and knowledge is a daily pursuit that can help us become more aware and empathetic, better listeners, helpers, partners, and overall humans.
One area Chris feels especially passionate about is helping people appreciate, respect, and understand different beliefs, behaviors, and decisions. While there are clear unacceptable behaviors that will never be acceptable, most conflict can be processed through without harmful thoughts or emotions by taking perspective and feeling what someone else may be feeling.
Specialties and Clinical Interests
Chris has enjoyed working with all kinds of people, including kids, teenagers, individual adults, and couples. His ideal client is someone who:
- Can recognize there is a struggle
- Is honest and transparent
- Is open to exploring how things can change
- Is willing to make adjustments in their personal choices if necessary
His clinical background includes working with at-risk youth ages 12 to 18 in residential treatment settings, where he collaborated with clinical supervisors, nurses, physicians, and staff to develop therapy options that help young people understand their struggles and build skills for success.
