Recovery Through Connections is for men and women facing the effects of:

  • Sexual Addictions & Compulsions

  • Infidelity

  • Relationship Trauma resulting from these betrayals

RTC is different than traditional talk therapy in that it also provides experiences that anchor the learning to long-term emotional healing. Our licensed therapists are trained in Patrick Carne’s CSAT work as well as several other trainings specific to this issue. Additionally, Kyle Reid, LCSW is CSAT certified whose national presentations to sex compulsion therapists have been enthusiastically received. Kyle closely supervises our sexual addiction programs and therapists.

Sexual intimacy can be one of the most elevating and joyous of human experiences. But for many, sexuality has become a source of guilt, conflict, and enslavement.

Sexual compulsions and addictions are a widespread problem in modern society. Men, women, and even children are becoming caught in diverse compulsive or addictive sexual behaviors.

These behaviors include the use of pornography, compulsive masturbation, electronic devices for “virtual sex,” sexual or emotional infidelity, anonymous sex, dangerous or illegal sexual practices, and sexual fetishes. These sexual problems may be oriented toward the opposite sex, the same sex, or both.

Our computer culture creates countless counterfeit connections, leaving us empty and compulsively drawn to temporary highs.  Connections uses specific methods of recovery to help you consistently reconnect with real people, your God, and His creations and purpose for you.  We help establish the roots of a fulfilling life and satisfying relationships. Connections with the real facilities; disconnection from the unreal.

How Can We Help?

The foundation of a good recovery program is the effective application of proven methods within the security of non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic relationships. With that foundation, virtually anything can be accomplished.

Based on that foundation, RTC’s specific approach to recovery from sexual compulsion and addiction involves an introduction and three phases:

Introduction: A three-hour overview of some of the essential recovery elements for husbands and wives.

1

Phase 1

40 Days. Includes working through our extensive Starter Kit and Facing the Shadows Groups
2

Phase 2

90 Days. Includes Recovery Zone 1 Group work with special emphasis on creating ongoing patterns
3

Phase 3

90 Days. Includes transformational group work that addresses the underlying emotional patterns and thinking patterns that can result in relapse.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sex Addiction Treatment

What is a CSAT and why does it matter?

A CSAT (Certified Sex Addiction Therapist) has completed specialized training through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP), founded by Dr. Patrick Carnes. This certification means the therapist understands the neuroscience of addiction, trauma-informed treatment approaches, and evidence-based recovery methods specific to sexual compulsivity. At Connections, Kyle Reid, LCSW is CSAT certified and closely supervises our sexual addiction programs and therapists.

Can I recover from sex addiction without my spouse finding out?

While confidentiality is important, long-term recovery research shows that involving a partner, when appropriate, significantly improves outcomes. That said, you can absolutely start treatment on your own. We help you work through disclosure at a pace that supports both your recovery and your relationship. Many clients begin individual therapy first, then involve their partner when the time is right.

Is pornography addiction a real addiction?

Yes. Research shows that compulsive pornography use activates the same reward pathways in the brain as substance addictions. People can develop tolerance (needing more extreme content), experience withdrawal symptoms, and continue use despite significant negative consequences to relationships, work, and wellbeing. Our therapists treat pornography addiction using the same evidence-based approaches proven effective for other addictions.

What is the Recovery Through Connections (RTC) program?

Recovery Through Connections is our structured outpatient program for sex and pornography addiction. It begins with a three-hour introduction for individuals and partners, then moves through three phases: Phase 1 (40 days) includes our Starter Kit and Facing the Shadows groups; Phase 2 (90 days) focuses on Recovery Zone group work and building sustainable patterns; Phase 3 (90 days) addresses underlying emotional and thinking patterns that can lead to relapse. The program is significantly more affordable than inpatient treatment while including the five elements associated with long-term recovery.

Do you treat both men and women for sex addiction?

Yes. While sex addiction is often portrayed as a male issue, women also struggle with sexual compulsivity, pornography use, and infidelity. Our therapists work with both men and women, and we understand that the shame and stigma can be even more intense for women seeking help. We provide a non-judgmental, compassionate environment for anyone seeking recovery.

What if my partner is the one with the addiction? Do you help spouses too?

Absolutely. Partners of those with sex addiction often experience betrayal trauma, which can include symptoms similar to PTSD. We have therapists trained in partner trauma, including a Certified Partner Trauma Therapist (CPTT). We offer individual support for partners, couples therapy when appropriate, and our RTC program includes components specifically designed for spouses. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
