Tegan Binford, CMHC-Intern

Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern

About Tegan

Tegan Binford is a warm, compassionate therapist who brings both professional skill and genuine human connection to her work. After 15 years in education and school counseling, she brings deep experience supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges.

Tegan cares deeply about creating a space where people feel safe, seen, understood, and accepted just as they are. Her approach is collaborative, client-centered, trauma-informed, and grounded in empathy, inclusivity, and a commitment to ongoing growth.

She believes we all have an innate ability to heal, though sometimes we need support to peel back the layers and get to the root of the issue. Tegan considers it a privilege to hear others’ stories and values the sacred space in which she witnesses the courage, vulnerability, and resilience of the human experience.

What to Expect Working with Tegan

Tegan shows up with openness and genuine authenticity—flaws and all. She takes an eclectic, collaborative approach to therapy, recognizing that human behavior is complex and that each person’s healing journey is unique. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, she tailors her work to meet each client where they are and to support what they need most. Her office is a place where you can be messy, make mistakes, express big emotions (even with a few four-letter words), and work through the hard stuff. The goal is not to appear to do well in session, but to truly thrive outside of it.

At times, this process involves gently challenging thoughts and patterns that may have once helped you survive, but are now keeping you stuck or no longer serving you. Tegan supports clients in uncovering new insights, practicing skills, and reclaiming their sense of power. She helps individuals and families make sense of their emotions, patterns, and behaviors in a safe, empowering space—fostering growth, balance, stronger relationships, and meaningful, lasting change.

A Little About Tegan

A California native turned Utah adventurer, Tegan traded valleys for mountain peaks during her college days and never looked back—except maybe when it snows in April. As an avid outdoors enthusiast, she’s often rappelling into canyons, catching passes in flag football, enjoying the water in some fashion, or chasing her nieces and nephews around. Her bookshelf swings from deep-dive psychology to swoony romance. When not reading or riding her Kawasaki Ninja into the sunset, she’s dreaming of building a cozy, laughter-filled barndominium for her future family.
