Who are these groups for?
Connections offers separate groups for men and women experiencing unwanted sexual behavior or compulsive sexual patterns, and for partners who have experienced betrayal trauma as a result of a loved one's addiction. Both tracks provide a confidential, non-judgmental space to heal, grow, and build lasting recovery.
Who leads the groups?
All groups are designed by top experts in the field and are supervised by Kyle Reid, LMFT, CSAT-S — a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist Supervisor whose national presentations on sex compulsion treatment have been enthusiastically received by peers in the field. Every group is facilitated by a therapist who is either CSAT-certified or working directly under CSAT supervision.

How are the sexual addiction groups structured?
Our sexual addiction groups follow the Becoming Model of Recovery, developed by Kyle Reid, LMFT, CSAT-S, CPTT. The work moves through four phases, each built around one of the four Becoming Principles. Every phase pairs a set of tasks from Patrick Carnes' Task Model — the sequenced recovery tasks used in CSAT treatment — with three of the 12 Dimensions of Healthy Sexuality, so you are always addressing what needs to change while actively developing something healthier in its place. Members move through the phases at their own pace, guided by their group facilitator.
Phase 1Vision of Hope
Tasks 1–7Dimensions 1–3Dimensions of healthy sexuality: Nurturing, Sensual Awareness, and Self-Image
The first phase helps you see honestly where you are and begin envisioning what a healthier life could become. Through structured tasks and group support, members break through the barriers that have prevented progress, build a foundation of self-awareness, and begin learning to care for themselves, slow down and notice their own experience, and see themselves as worth more than the behavior they are trying to change.
Phase 2Reconciliation
Tasks 8–13Dimensions 4–6Dimensions of healthy sexuality: Self-Definition, Openness, and Sexual Renewal
The second phase moves into deeper emotional work — understanding and resolving the conflicts, patterns, and experiences that keep pulling you back toward the old way of living. Members work on taking ownership of their lives, expressing needs and boundaries clearly, practicing honesty and transparency with others, and grounding sexuality in personal integrity.
Phase 3Commitment
Tasks 14–19Dimensions 7–9Dimensions of healthy sexuality: Relationships, Partnership, and Non-Genital Intimacy
The third phase turns new understanding into action by building the practices, boundaries, and structures that support lasting change. The dimensions in this phase move the work outward into relationship — repairing damaged bonds, developing an interdependent and equal partnership, and learning to experience genuine intimacy and attunement.
Phase 4Becoming
Tasks 20–30Dimensions 10–12Dimensions of healthy sexuality: Genital Intimacy, Spirituality, and Passion
The final phase is the gradual process of embodying and sustaining change until healthy sexuality becomes part of how you live and who you are. Members work on being fully seen in intimacy, connecting sexuality to meaning and spiritual wholeness, and pursuing the passions that give their life direction. Duration is tailored to individual need.
How does betrayal trauma recovery work?
Partners of people in sexual addiction recovery deserve their own healing space. For partners, group recovery happens in two steps.
Step 1: A 12-week psychoeducation group
Partners begin with a structured 12-week group focused on understanding betrayal trauma alongside others who have lived it. Because each week builds on the last, the group is closed: everyone starts and finishes together. There is no group running right now — we schedule the next one once enough people have signed up, so call or text to add your name.
Step 2: The ongoing betrayal trauma group
After the 12 weeks, partners step into the ongoing group, which meets every other Thursday at 5:00 PM at our Orem office for $125 a month. Here partners develop healthy boundaries, process the overwhelming emotions that followed discovery, and find support from others who truly understand. How long someone stays is determined by their own needs.
